IS DISTILLING LEGAL IN SOUTH AFRICA ?
Yes distilling is legal in South Africa, but it is subject to strict regulation & laws. Home distillers must register their stills & commercial distillers must get the relevant micro-manufacturing licenses & registrations with SARS.
IS DISTILLING TRAINING AVAILABLE IN SOUTH AFRICA ?
Yes, but there are a limited number of distilling training facilities available , MDS is one of the few training facilities available in South Africa.
IS DISTILLING SAFE ?
Yes distilling is safe, if you go for proper distilling training & practice safe distilling procedures.
CAN WE CUSTOM DESIGN OUR OWN DISTILLING EQUIPMENT ?
Yes absolutely , we have custom built many distilleries. You supply your required distillery specifications & we will design & manufacture to your exact requirements. We will make your dream happen.
IS OPENING A CRAFT DISTILLERY PROFITABLE ?
Yes opening a craft distillery can be very profitable , if you have a good product, good branding & a good marketing strategy. It is also very important to have a realistic budget to start up the business.
CAN I SELL MY DISTILLED ALCOHOL ?
If you are a Home distiller, unfortunately you cannot legally sell any of your distilled alcohol. If you are a licensed commercial craft distillery, then Yes you can legally sell your distilled produce, as per your micro-manufacturing license stipulations.
